AMD Duron 900 MHz processor

Advantages: Cheap, Fast, Definitely a good buy.
Disadvantages: Runs very hot and needs compatible motherboard and power supply

...AMD have certainly turned themselves around in recent times and now represent a viable option to Intel processors. Traditionally AMD have been strong in the "value"/budget segment of the market. The AMD Athlon is a processor that challenges Intel higher up the food chain. Advantages AMD Athlons are faster than Intel processors when comparing Mhz to Mhz. AMD Athlons are cheaper than Intel processors Mhz for Mhz. Possible pitfalls... AMD processors require motherboards with "Socket A". These are different to motherboards that support Intel processors and tend to be slightly more expensive. It is highly recommended that you use an AMD approved power supply with your AMD processor. ...The AMD Duron is a very good alternative to the more expensive Pentium 4 and Athlon processors. Line-moderately the Duron core is based on that of the Athlon and brings therefore also Anna-honouring just as good achievement (closer information see bench mark). For fast plays with complex diagram I would recommend this processor. I have mean AMD tested computers with some running plays, which ran all very good and made no problems. Generally I am with my Duron 1.2 Ghz. Very contently. He falls hardly off and mostly only if any program not reliably runs and an error has. The AMD Duron 1.2 Ghz. runs with a Frontside bus from 2x100 MHz. This processor is meant for all Main boards, which possess a A-base. The Motherboard operates the processor with a tension of approximately 3.3 V. The price for this processor is to be decided a second good... Read review

...The AMD Duron is the relatively new chip from AMD designed to be direct competition for Intel's time honoured Celeron chip. The Celeron is a decent cheap processor, but is nothing when compared to the AMD Duron. The duron is much faster, more stable and ultimately (very important when aimed at this end of the market) is much cheaper. The only thing the celeron has in its favour is the ability to overclock better than the Duron. This has all changed. Overclockers UK (www.overclockers.co.uk) have modified the AMD Duron chips themselves to unlock the multiplier value and allow exceptionally easy overclocking. They offer a range of Duron chips, each of which has been modified and tested to run at the new value.
