The amd k6-2 processor is one which is good for the basic PC user. If you are a PC user who likes to play the latest games and run the latest software then this is not the chip for you.
I have an old PC with an amd k6-2 processor which clocks at 350mhz I am going to upgrade this to the later 550mhz to hopefully give my computer a bit of a boost. The chip is a good little chip as I am running a 32md video card on it with 592mb of ram. The chip remains stable but falls unstable when trying to run games that are too overpowering.
The amd k6-2 processor is one which uses amd's 3d now technology. These are 21 new functions which help enhance gameplay and the running of programmes. It uses the Super Socket 7 and has 100mhz front side bus. It has a great range of clockspeeds from 266mhz up to 550mhz and these can be overclocked.
The AMD k6-2 processor is one which is great if you use programmes such as word or excel but if you use it for the latest games then the chip can become unstable. If you are looking for a good quality cheap upgrade for your socket 7 PC then this could be the chip for you. If you are looking to run the latest games and software then my advice is to look elsewhere as this processor is past its day and will not be able to cope with the latest games.
I would recommend this product to anyone who uses their PC for basic use i.e Word and Excel but for the more advanced user I would invest in something a little more upmarket with a bit more kick.
