    This chip is from AMD's last generation architecture using the 939 socket. Due to the new AM2 architecture being released, socket 939 chips have plummeted in price as they are no longer cutting edge. This means there are bargains to be had and this opteron is one of those chips. Around 60 pounds buys you a single core 2Ghz processor which is nothing special. What you are not told is these chips actually use server grade silicon and have 1Mb level 2 cache as opposed to lesser grade silicon and 512Kb level 2 cache found in the desktop equivalent.
