After the old battery for our UPS died (being as it was second hand) I thought I would have to be purchasing a new UPS at £££ costs!! But I was really surprised to find the cost of new/nearly new APCbatteries wasn't that much.
The capacity isn't great when you have only just replaced the battery but it's noticably better than an exhausted battery but after a few charges/discharged the run time is excellent.
Having used APC and Belkin UPS's the APC's of the same capacity seem to last that little bit longer (which in business during a power cut can be vital, as I found out on a couple of occasions).
So to summarise, a new battery is a very worthwhile investment for UPS's over 12 months old. ...

a large power button for turning the device on and off. You cant really miss it! Just above this and slightly recessed is the hard to reach silence button to turn the warning horn off when power supply to the liebert is failing. In fact whenever the battery is discharging (i.e. being used by the attached PCs and not recharging) the horn sounds loudly.
The warning lights on the front of the device are easy to read. The gauge of lights shows clearly how much power remains and if the device has power connected as well as the strength and flow of current.

First things first, this device looks great - it's made of brushed aluminium and it has a full colour touch screen. It's seriously space age. According to the techy boffin who bought this, it is good value for money at £213 (OMG - HOW much nail polish could you buy for that??) and much better than the Phillips Pronto. I merely pass that on.
OK - the set up. Now I can do most home-orientated IT things. I was glad I was not alone with this one.
