A useful camera to have around.
Advantages: Size, Price Disadvantages: Poor viewfinder
...information recording, etc) Canon did two similar 'cheap' IXUS models - this one - the AF, and another the FF. The difference being that the FF had fixed focus and the AF auto focus (obviously enough). The auto focus is of the infra-red type so can be fooled by shooting through glass etc... but generally performs well and is worth having over the FF version. Exposure is good enough and the flash is small but good enough for shots at parties etc... ... ...my other camera is an Canon EOS SLR) its very small, dark and it always takes a moment or two to get your eye just right at it. On the plus side changing the APS format does properly mask the viewfinder unlike some APS compacts which rely on dotted outlines to mark out the different formats. All in all the viewfinder is acceptable for a camera so small. The camera includes a tripod socket, self timer, settings for flash, no-flash, red eye flash or ...

A water resistant camera that isn't yellow!
Advantages: Pictures from where you have never taken pictures before. Disadvantages: "APS" = Ain't Perfect Sharpness...
...focus. This was repaired by Canon but cost almost as much as a new camera would have done.
Summary:
I think if I were to buy a new camera now I would wait until a digital waterproof version was released. Waterproof cameras are great, and I do not regret buying this one, but I think the limitations of APS compared to digital would make this product a poor choice as soon as a good digital alternative hits the market. ...

Advantages: Light, compact, easy to use. Disadvantages: Buttons and veiw finder a bit small.
...2 free films and might have saved on cost by shopping around. Also the camera itself was a bit pricey at something like £65.
Overall I think the Canon IXUS M-1 is an excellent compact camera. It has enabled me for the first time ever to take good photos. ...

Size definitely doesn't matter to me!
Advantages: Small, Sturdy, Reliable, Stylish Disadvantages: None
...INTRO
I bought my Canon Ixus III APS Camera roughly 18 months ago, after experiencing no end of problems with the camera I originally bought, a Fujifilm Nexia 320 IX. I would have gone for the Ixus III to start with, but it was way outside my budget of £100 and the Nexia 320 IX seemed to have everything I was looking for at the time(and at 10p inside my budget).
After having two replacement Nexia 320 IX’s and still experiencing problems I decided ... ...My other half has a Canon 35mm camera which he has had for roughly 15 years, and which still takes fantastic photos, so I thought to myself “I want a Canon”. I needed a more reliable camera, and 15 years seemed reliable.
There weren’t that many APS camera’s to choose from as Digital seems to be the in thing, but I was given a choice of two Canon models. The Ixus III was the most expensive at £179.90, but it had exactly what I wanted and looked extremely ...

Compact, easy to use camera
Advantages: Small, lightweight Disadvantages: No zoom
I’ve owned a Canon Ixus L-1 for several years, and have been very happy with the quality of photographs taken with it. The camera is small, lightweight, and comes with a carrying case, so can be easily carried around either attached to a belt, or in a bag or pocket. Photos can be taken in the 3 usual APS formats, including the Panoramic view, useful for taking pictures of landscapes at a distance. It is also possible to print the date and time on ... ...to work automatically, along with red-eye reduction, which works well. The camera has a 26mm lens, but unfortunately no zoom facility, which is the one major drawback.
Films are easy to install, and cheap to buy (packs of 3 available for around £5), and relatively inexpensive to develop (around £5 for a 25 exposure film), though not as cheap as standard 35mm film.
I’ve enjoyed using this camera, and would recommend it. ...
