...What do people look for when it comes to choosing image-editing software?
Jasc must have asked this question dozens of times and luckily for us, they actually listened to the answers. Paint Shop Pro 7 has achieved the right balance between the 'click here and this will happen' beginners and the 'I want total control' professional. Version 6 was a major leap forward and although not quite such a leap, version 7 has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. The developers have recognised that the user is not always going to be a novice an have built a learning curve into the program. The new automatic adjustment palettes give the beginner powerful tools in an accessible fashion. By offering the most common optionit's possible to improve your images with very little knowledge. The Enhance Photo options range from colour balance to small scratch...

Advantages: Cheap, overall good package Disadvantages: Slow, photoediting could be better

Advantages: Relatively cheap, easy-to-use, wide range of features. Disadvantages: Has some advanced limitations.
...PaintShop Pro 7 (PSP7) is a very popular piece of graphical production software. It is cited that 20 million people use this software, so one could say it must be good.
It has a diverse range of features, offering something for everyone, so to speak and retails for about £60.
For a private 'home' user, PSP7 will allow you to edit, retouch and revamp exisiting photographs. For an advanced user or web developer, this program will allow you to create and optimize web graphics with its built-in web tools.
The software comes bundled with Animation Shop 3, this allows the user to animate the graphics he or she may produced within PSP7, thus creating animated graphics suitable for use online.
As with many graphical production software, it has a very similar layout and functionality as with all the top brands. Adobe's Photoshop 6...
