Advantages: Easy Setup, Great Performance, Cheap but Reliable Disadvantages: Some components hard to reach
and hardware monitoring. The only thing I would advise is to connect the cables from your computer case BEFORE you install the processor etc, otherwose it will be very difficult to reach some of them once the board is mounted in the case. Also, good dexterity is needed to get the connectors into the pins, as they are located quite close together.
All the components fit smoothly and easily into/onto the board, and not much force is required. This an ATX board, and Asrock have made the most of the space that they do use. It should be noted that there is no graphics controller on this board, but a decent card can be bought for around £27 retail. There is 5.1 channel sound, LAN and firewire though, so a basic system won't need much additional hardware.
No real configuration of the board is needed, and no jumpers need to be set. I installed ...
Advantages: Safe overclocking ability, onboard graphics (64mb) Onboard LAN Disadvantages: Only two Ram slots, and two PCI slots
Introduction:
First thing, I needed a new PC as my laptop was very slow, and basically just falling apart! So I decided to build a new pc, so I went onto ebay, and started looking for a motherboard and processor bundle! I came across this motherboard with a Sempron 2800+ CPU (processor) and 256mb of ram. I snatched up this bargain for around £50 including delivery!
Installation:
So once it came! I was dead excited so I opened the box. It came with the Asrock K7S41 manual (quick installation guide which is very useful and helpful), support CD (including drivers), one ultra ATA 66/100/133 IDE ribbon cable (for hard drives, CD rom drives, etc), one ribbon cable for 3.5inch floppy drive, and the I/O plate for the computer case. So I took everything out and installed it into my computer case straight away.

Advantages: ATX-compatible, Power-efficient, Inexpensive, Supports ATA and SATA Disadvantages: Obsolete DDR Technology, Unsuitable for Gamers
and will replace or refund.
Verdict
I suppose it all comes down to buying or not. The reason I have it is that several parts from my previous rig were only compatible with 487 socket motherboards. Spending extra for a multi-core machine seemed irrational, as the capacities keep increasing faster that the amount of money you need accumulates. Buy if you wish not to get an extra cooler for a 775 or equivalent, feel that a 5 GHz (effective total for P4 with HT) processor suits your needs or you cannot afford an ATX. Do not buy if you have an ATX computer, wish to have plenty of space for fitting many additional devices, require a PCI-E graphics card or DDRII memory.
As you can see, chances are you will require some other mainboard, but if you wish to cope with the mATX PC case, you can always find room for the ASRock P4i ...
