6 Months ago my good old Acer laptop decided to give up the ghost so I was in the market for a new laptop and after having a rather nice tax rebate I decided to treat myself to something a little bit special. After hours of trawling the net for great deals from Sony to Panasonic laptops and various different companies offering me various different offers I came across the Asus A6F.
Having not heard of Asus before I decided to research the company as the deal looked to good to be true and after searching I discovered that Asus were mainly a company that supplied parts for Sony Viao laptops and many other great brands. But they had started to supply their own laptops using the same parts. This resulted in the Asus A6F that I was considering.
For only £565.00 and free next day delivery the deal was fantastic so I got my order in and sure enough my new laptop arrived at 930am the next day.

THE LAPTOP ITSELF
One of tha main things that attracted me to the Asus A6F was the new Duo Core Processor which is fantastically fast and can handle multiple programmes at the same time. Also built in to the top of the screen is a brilliantly clear webcam much better than the 1.3mp that it is advertised at. Also a built in microphone making this laptop ideal for video calls through the various different messengers available.
Not only are the specs fantastic but I got a free upgrade from 80GB Hard Drive to 100GB and the RAM was doubled for me to 1GB making it a very powerful machine and with the same parts that are supplied with Viaos a real bargain at half the price of the branded Sony laptops.
As well as the fantastic specs you also get supplied with the system the latest Microsoft Works 8.0 and various different Video and DVD programmes. Also Nero is supplied free and unlike most companies not just a trial but the full version.
The Laptop screen is great very clear and bright with a glass effect making everything you see crystal clear. Built in DVD controls make watching DVD's on your laptop a doddle and power save settings make it possible to alter your usage of power and maintaining your battery life.
After 6 months my battery is still performing as good as the day I purchased it which is a main hang up with many other mobile devices especially laptops.
Supplied also with all Asus laptops is 24 Months Warrenty which again is usually only a year with many other companies. Asus are a global company so no problems finding a call centre in your locality should you have any problems which I must report I have had none.
The Asus is also Vista compatible so when it comes out later this year you will have no problems switching over, some companies supplying Asus laptops are also giving a free upgrade of Vista when it arrives.
The control pad built in mouse is fantastic light to the touch with the usual dual button but also a scrolling touch pad on the side making webpage scrolling very easy.
The A6F also has the sleek smart looks of its branded rivals if not better with brushed chrome casing and a very smart layout.
It speaks for itself that the Asus A6F is wireless so mobile internet access is no problem but this is with all new laptops however the connection is very easy and very stable no dropping connection.
Shortcut buttons are a plenty with chrome buttons that link you directly to email, internet etc etc again very stylish and very reliable.
4 USB ports are available for any devices you need to attach but with built in Mouse, Webcam and microphone they tend to be plenty with no need for an additional hub.
A writable DVD drive is a great plus with very quick writing speed and sound quick and unbroken DVD view this just finishes off the great stylish and reliable A6F an all rounder that at its price you could not do better.
CONS
As with all products there are nearly always some cons but with the Asus A6F not many I can think of however if i were to nit pick I would say it is quite heavy but not fat.
The powersave can be a bit of a pain as when you unplug from the mains it automatically shuts off the wireless connection which is easily re applied but can be minorly irritating.
OVERALL
Overall this is a fantastic Laptop at a fantastic price one to be seriously considered should you be looking for a new laptop. I was very very pleased with my purchase the speed performance and Look of the Asus A6F is very hard to beat especially at its price.
