The driver CD from Asus has pretty much all you need to get your mainboard purring smoothly. Although i would advise a quick visit to http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_win2k_6.86.html
to check for up dated drivers if possible. (Please make sure that you choose the correct platform driver. Choosing a wrong one can damage your board and Windows installation).

Although I was "happy" with my MSI K8SLI Platinum, there was the "phwoar" factor missing. You know, that little thing that makes your day better....(but more on that on another review...) Anyway, I decided to invest in the Asus A8N-SLI Platinum, on the basis of the board being both affordable, and good value for money (or at least I expected this to be the case :)), and so i spent £95 on the board (yes, there are possibly cheaper places, but this was bought over the counter, (you know, that thing with a person behind, where you can see who is selling you your goods)......:-) The layout on the box was impeccable. Together with the board, we have the usual army of seemingly innocuous hardware, that somehow, you know you probably are not going to use, and that will just gather dust somewhere, and will truly get on the nerves of your partner/parents sooner rather than later So we have Serial ATA 2 port extension modules IEEE1394 x 1 port USB 2.0 x 2 & USB 2.0 + game port module 8 x Serial ATA signal cables,Serial ATA power cables,ULTRA DMA / 133 cables,40 - conductor IDE cable (1, ribon), Floppy cable,COM cable, I/O Shield, SLI connector, Retention Bracket, CD with drivers, Intervideo WinDVD Suite,User guide & Instant Music sticker (no, no ketchup with all this!)
Now, lets get on with business. Putting the board on my case (Thermaltake Shark) was a breeze. 1 or 2 niggling problems with the IDE and power connectors, more for localization than anything else (tight space on board, could have been better designed. Just my personal opinion tough)
The board itself is very quiet, or let me rephrase this, the board is silent. Yup, nada, nothing, no sound whatsoever. The new cooling called AL Cool-Pipe does the work remarkably. The space between the PCI-E slots is wide, and if you have 2 cards in SLI, will allow you good cooling You still have 3 PCI slots for extra peripherals. The on board sound powered by Realteck ALC850 8 Channel Codec is very good, actually better than I had given credit for. I liked it so much, that I'm using this in prole of my Sound Blaster Audigy.
Bios is very user friendly, and the instructions are pretty much straightforward, and they have a good fail safe option (or in another words "How not to kill you ma inboard for Dummies!")

Oh by the way, did I mention that my AMD 4600x2 loves this board? Yup, love at first boot, I tell ya.
So, getting the pros and counts..... I could bore you all to death with more technical mumbo jumbo, and indeed will be glad to try and pass some more info if requested, but the bottom line is this: This board is really excellent value for money. It Rocks Ya Baby!!!

Advantages: Heatpipe over fan means quieter+Feature packed Disadvantages: Expensive to buy
Asus are top motherboard brand, and the price of their flagship board, the a8n premium, shows this. The board has lots of features such as 8 sata connectors and dual gigabit lan which is useful if you are an office user, or if simply want to play games over LAN. It supports AMD's latest and most popular processor, the Athlon 64, which is available from the value 3000+ model at around £99 to the mega-fast, mega-expensive FX series processors, such ... ...and is still highly spec'd. Asus also have a reputation for reliability and as a mainstream manufacturer warranties are reassuringly long - (most problems occur/are found upon installation)
RAM provision is also good, supporting DDR400, the fastest non-intel supporting RAM currently available and again, a range of budget through to high performance RAM is supported to satisfy the needs of both the dedicated PC builder or the casual user.

Advantages: Overclocks well, lots of features Disadvantages: Expensive
I've had this motherboard for a year now and i'm really impressed - i had my doubts as to whether the passively cooled chipset was a good idea, but even when masively overclocked it still doesn't break 36°.
This motherboard is a VERY god overclocking board, i am running an AMD 3700 KAB1E, a stepping renowned for it's overclocking prowess, and this motherboard has taken it from 2.2 GHz to 3.07 GHz, which is the CPU's limit and a 40% overclock. The ... ...which just shows you how much more this motherboard can give - add to the fact that even with such strain on the motherboard it not only never misses a beat but also had more to give as my CPU is holding it all back!
The on-board RAID controller is good enough for a RAID0 setup, and the SLi works, however it only has 2x 8x lanes when in SLi mode rather than 2x 16x lanes as some motherboards offer, however this doesn't make much difference in speed.
