Advantages: Perfect with dvd's
Disadvantages: major problem after using lightscribe

...Have never had any problems with asus products until now. Everything was working fine until I used the lightscribe function for the first time, now it absolutely refuses to recognise any cd, dvd's work perfectly, both reading and writing, but when a cd is loaded all the drive does is make a hell of a racket. The drive is exactly one week old so my course of action was to go to the Asus web site to see if it was possibly something simple like a software glitch. What I found on the forum was a lot more people with the same problem, who have all followed the recommended solutions (even down to flashing the drive and using different software) but still can't get their drives to work. Advantages: Inexpenisve, good performance, lots of ports and slots
Disadvantages: Ports a bit cluttered, no WiFi

...makes sense, the only two problems being that it is advertised as WiFi ready, yet the only thing it’s ready for is for you to splurge out another 50 quid for an Asus WiFi card. Another problem, if you are building your own machine is hooking up the USB ports externally, because the wiring is pretty complicated. Maybe that was more of a problem with my computer case than the actual motherboard though. Contents of the box: The motherboard comes with a standard set of manuals, cables and software CDs. ...I Purchased this motherboard on 31/03/04. The installation was simple with no problems, I used the amd athlon 64 3200+ Processor, the Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 120Gb 7200rpm 8mb Cache ATA133 Hard disk, 350w power supply, the Sapphire Radeon 9600 AGP X8 256MB Video Card and the LG 8x DVD DUAL R/RW/RAM IDE BURNER drive. I would recommend this motherboard over all the others firstly because it is made by Asus which is a leading company with a lot of experience. Secondly they always give all the leads and connectors, screws etc needed to get you up and running. The software provided is very good and easy to install and use. I have build a large quantity of computers over the years using other cheaper motherboards like msi and have had problems and crashes etc. I hope this reveiw helps you.... Read review
