Connectivity is rather poor (No esata, hdmi, digital audio out), looks and build quality are average. If you want to install a new Op System (eg Win 7 or Linux) instead of the dreadful ... ...do an upgrade install) need to delete the hidden recovery disk first. Otherwise you are likely to end up with a huge ERROR screeen in capital letters (Google "asus reecovery.dat" fpor full details). Looks are minimalist. Not too fond of the keyboard which feels cheap and clacky, The right hand of the keyboard has a separate number pad, which some may like but i would prefer the pace to be used to make the main keys bigger. If you want to install a new Op System (eg Win 7 or Linux) instead of the dreadful Vista they are supplied with, you will probably (unless you do an upgrade install) need to delete the hidden recovery disk first. Otherwise you are likely to end up with a huge ERROR screeen in capital letters (Google "asus reecovery.dat" fpor full details). Looks are minimalist. Not too fond of the keyboard which feels cheap and clacky, The right hand of the keyboard has a separate number pad, which some may like but i would prefer the pace to be used to make the main keys bigger. The trackpad is quite nice though I prefer to use a mouse. The Altec Lansing speakers are nothing to write home about and produce average tiny laptop sounds, so that you will certainly need to plugn in a headphone or hifi/external speakers if you want to listen to music.
Win 7 installs well once you have figured out that you need to delete the recovery partition if you want to do a clean install of Win 7 (delete the recovery partition and the first partition) then create a new partition in the resulting space (I would suggest 30/40G is enough for your op system and programs - Then use the resulting space to expeand your data partition with a partitioning program such as Acronis or gparted. I've instaled te 64 bit edition of Win 7 without any problems or need to search around for drivers etc.
