REVIEW FOR ASUS M4A78 PRO purchased from LUCMOS.CO.UK
PROS: Built in video (VGA, HDMI, DVI), fiber optic out, RAID 0,1,5,10, JBOD; capable of locating and flashing bios under windows; 6 SATA slots, potential of 12 USB; 3 PCI slots handy to recycle various cards from old computer (ie old TV card)
CONS: Bios only partially recognizes my Microsoft wireless photo keyboard set (mouse, not keyboard); Utilizing the optical out blocks one USB out (TOO CLOSE TOGETHER), No Firewire inputs on board (yet STILL with COM1 and floppy inputs?!)
Other Thoughts: This was an open box item for 65 quid all in which Lucmpos indicates will not ship with the full complement of stuff, but I was expecting the I/O backing to at least cover up the back of my tower for this system of outputs...Alas, no. This baby shipped with just the board and non else...
The wireless keyboard error is just weird. It allows you use the keyboard to hit delete to get into the CMOS, but after reboot indicates 'No Keyboard, hit F1. Of course, by hitting F1 the system advances indicating that you obviously have a keyboard...That is, until the password screen in Vista in which the keyboard can't be used...I found and loaded the drivers for the keyboard to no avail. This is a CMOS issue...
