Asus K50IN

Advantages: Cheap, good build quality, doesnt get hot
Disadvantages: No bluetooth, chassis gets dirty, stickers come of really quickly

To begin with I would like to say that I own this ASUS for about half a year now and had absolutely no problems with it. Computer works great and thankfully still works. Moreover it works just great. I am a student so I use computer not only for games but for studies too. It runs all the programs i need just perfectly. The full size keyboard really does it's job it is really more comfortable to use full sized keyboard in laptop rather than the small one. The battery life is great too - it lasts for about three hours. Which is really good for a laptop with 15,6 inch screen. However there are some disadvantages. The biggest one is the chassis of the lap top. It is very slippery and it gets messy really quickly so you often need to clean it. To sum up my opinion I would like to say that for this price this Asus laptop is one of the best in ...

Review of ASUS K50IN

Are ASUS Eee PCs worth the Money?

Advantages: Good battery life, Good specifications, Wireless N and Bluetooth
Disadvantages: Better netbooks available, Poor webcam

support for a few more different types of cards. It is nice that it has a webcam built into the bezel of the screen but the picture quality is not very good, especially in low light. Although this is more of a gimmick, I'm still not too impressed with this particular feature, as there are similar spec'ed machines with better webcams. The lack of an optical drive (normal with smaller laptops) means that you do need an external USB drive, which needs to be purchased separately. I have one so that's not a problem but it does mean an extra expense of around £50 if you do not have one already or if you can't get the software over the Internet or over a network. Asus have included a Windows XP system restore DVD, which obviously can't be used unelss you have an external drive. It does come with Star Office pre-installed, which is ...

Review of ASUS Eee PC 1000H

Asus Xonar D1 - move over creative, your time is up.

Advantages: cheap, works in vista, does the job far better than the competition, optical output!
Disadvantages: limited inputs (see review)

The souncard market has never really been swamped with options. For those of us who don't use onboard sound and demand a seperate sound card for our sorround sound/gaming/music needs theres never been much choice. Most people go with Creative as they are well known and apparently respectable. I did just that a few years ago, it was a mistake. Their driver and customer support, especially for Windows Vista users is seriously lacking. I was finding my games locking up, my computer suffering from fatal errors (aka Blue Screens of Death) and just general sound issues that were hindering my enjoyment. Research soon showed that the creative card was to blame. As a result i threw my old creative soundcard in the bin and opted for something new, the Asus Xonar D1. Simple, small and effective. Asus's card supports Vista and its drivers are ...
