...the asrock p4vm800 is an excellent motherboard extremely reliable and has good features.It is the p4 478 format and takes the prescott cpu,s including the 533 fsb version if you flash the bios through windows with the easy to use update from asrocks site.The board also has support for SATA as well as IDE drives and also has an 8x AGP slot as well as onboard video.I have used literally hundreds of these in system builds and the return rate is less than 1% so if you need a cheap reliable board look no further you will not be disappointed unless you need more than 3 pci slots.The board also has usb 2.0 support plus 2 extras headers on the board,it has a LAN socket and onboard 5.1 sound too... ...The ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard for AMD single-core Athlon 64/ Sempron and Dual-core Athlon 64 X2/ Athlon FX processors using socket AM2 is very user friendly, I went with AMDs 64 x2 3800+ processor in the beginning then moved up to 4200+ 2Gb Ram without any hassle, very easy to setup and fits easily in a standard ATX case. A possible downside to the board is that it has a limited number of slots due to being a micro ATX sized board. That's not a big deal for me as the only two cards I'll be buying in the future is Graphics and a extra Lan card. You will only say that the RAM support should be up to 8 GB and I am also agree with you. The motherboard is micro ATX and so you can install it on slim cabinets also.
