Asus is a trusted Motherboard manufacturer. It is known for producing reliable, cheap and good performance motherboard.
I have recently configured a New Desktop having an ASUS N73-AM motherboard installed on it. I have checked the PC for different environment like Gaming, Programming, General surfing etc. I find it a Good Performer and graphics is also ok.
The main features of this motherboard are:
-Supports Intel 45 nm multi-core processors(bothe core 2 duo and quard) - FSB 1333/1066/800/533 MHz (1333 Mhz for faster data transfer) - DDR2 800(OC)/667/533 (Up to 800 Mhz Fsb for great performance) - NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / nForce 610i - Integrated NVIDIA CineFX 3.0 graphics(Good for Gaming) - 4 x SATA 3Gb/s with RAID function (Faster data Access) - 8-channel High Definition Audio(Connect 8 channels at a time..Parallel 3+3 ports) - Up to 4 GB RAM Support -Onboard LAN - High Definition Audio
Overall the motherboard is satisfactory. You will only say that the RAM support should be up to 8 GB and I am also agree with you. The motherboard is micro ATX and so you can install it on slim cabinets also. It is a very affordable motherboard as it cost Rs. 2400($ 60) in India (on 8th March 2008.).

A quick note on your disadvantage. Windows XP/Vista will only support upto 4GB RAM as they are generally 32bit operating systems. If you want more that 4GB RAM you need to buy Windows XP/Vista 64bit operating systems as they support more RAM. So because most people still only use 32bit operating systems the companies generally dont support more
