ASUS P5RD1-V - motherboard - ATX - Radeon Xpress 200P

Advantages: Reliable, features, value, support
Disadvantages: none that I can find

...When looking for a motherboard for my brand new socket 939 processor I looked at the available options from my favourite supplier, ASUS. I've used ASUS for a few computers now, from a cheapo A7V8X-X, to a top-of-the-line socket A board the A7V880 (socket A WITH dual channel) and I even have an ASUS cooler and an ASUS graphics card. ASUS do no errors here neither, with the A8V Deluxe which has the stability ASUS are renowned for as well as every feature which is available. SATA, SATA Raid, IDE RAID, Firewire, Gigabit Ethernet, Dual Channel, AGP... what else could a computer builder want? I bought this OEM so everything had to be downloaded from the net, which is easy and quick. The installation procedures are simple and there's no silly flash programs to 'help the baffled'. ...I Purchased this motherboard on 31/03/04. The installation was simple with no problems, I used the amd athlon 64 3200+ Processor, the Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 120Gb 7200rpm 8mb Cache ATA133 Hard disk, 350w power supply, the Sapphire Radeon 9600 AGP X8 256MB Video Card and the LG 8x DVD DUAL R/RW/RAM IDE BURNER drive. I would recommend this motherboard over all the others firstly because it is made by Asus which is a leading company with a lot of experience. Secondly they always give all the leads and connectors, screws etc needed to get you up and running. The software provided is very good and easy to install and use. I have build a large quantity of computers over the years using other cheaper motherboards like msi and have had problems and crashes etc. I hope this reveiw helps you.... Read review

Advantages: good overcocker, upgradable , no fans, wifi, good accesories
Disadvantages: no sli/crossfire, expensive, only 1 IDE port

...This board is an excelent partner for a Core2Duo processor. Everything worked straight out of the box and it didnt even blink when i accidentally overclocked the cpu from 2.16 to 3.2Ghz. it has not crashed once on me yet even with my constant tinkering and just seems to get faster as asus are regularly releasing new bios updates(which are very easy to use). onboard wifi is fine, comes with a small aerial that gets a good signal from my router. also packaged is an excelent directional microphone thats great for voice communications apps. asus support is aledgedly excelent, altho i'v found their website to be a little slow here in the uk. asus also claim that this board will support the upcoming core2quadro, 4-core intel cpus....
