This is a vary classy looking system, finshed in metalic black, the finsh will complement any tft in black and silver. It is small enough to leave on the top of your desk with out looking out of place. The overall build quality of this barbones system is excelent and I'm sure you wont be disappointed, ASUS design some fantastic systems; this is surerly one of the best for under £90.

This is an ideal system for the home user, with enough features and space for everything you need. I have completed my setup with back and silver finish, keyboard, mouse and 17" tft monitor.

The sysytem will obviously vary depending on what componets and drives you install. I put in An intel-4m, 160gb hard drive, dvd rom/ cd-rw, the system comes with floppy, cooling fan and all the following listed below.

Included in the setup is a support cd rom with links to asus online help. The user manual is very useful and gives a step-by-step guide to installing the components you need and upgrades, in a clear and logical order.

Positives
~ Small design,
~ Metallic black finish
~ Very quiet cooling fan, can can't hear it at all (not like some laptops i've heard which are forever trying to keep cool)
~ 6 usb s2.0 (2 on the front)
~ front panel with 2 usbs:
1 x audio - SPDIF output
1 x microphone - input
1 x headphones - output
~ 5.1 sound card (with the mic and line-in sockets on the back switching to a 5.1 system)
~ Blue LED power on light, looks good
~ 2 parallel DDR SDRAM, DIMM 184-PIN, so can install 2 1gb rams, totalling 2gb, which is plenty (considering most systems on market total 512mb ram

Negatives
~ Small design makes it difficult to install components, have only installed 1 dvd/rom drive I think that it will be hard when i get round to installing the second, you need 2 sets of small fingers to remove the front panel when installing the drives.

~ When the dvd/rom is ejected you cant reach the button to retract the drive, so have to push the drive to start it going back in
~

The manual also covers the features of the deluxe version, which has an inbuilt fm tuner. Overall fully recomend this system, although i only bought this as the deluxe version was out of stock...after reading the manual you may want to opt for the deluxe verison instead.

A big improvement. With a careful read through you'll spot one or two errors which could be corrected.

Aberdonian 17.07.2005 13:58

Much better!

Deru 17.07.2005 12:42

A bit better. Errors like "you want be disappointed" and "ejected you can reach the button" could be corrected though. Have rerated.
