f you've read my Geforce 5200 review you will know before I upgraded I had a Radeon 7000. I was looking for a new graphics card back in 1999 so went into my local computer shop and asked what cards they had.

They had around three graphics card. The Radeon was £40 and the next card up was £120 and the 3rd £180. Having very little money I purchased the Radeon 7000.

I walked out of the shop and looked at the back of the boxed. It said ti supported Direct x 8. The game I wanted to play ran on Direct x 9 so I quickly ran back into the shop and asked him if it would support 9. He said yes it would so I decided to take it home and try it out.

The Radeon 7000 has 32mb ram. This was about what I needed at the time. I removed my computer case and removed the old card and replaced it with the Radeon.

On start-up I was asked to install the drivers for which I had a CD-Rom. It was very easy to install and only needed a quick restart.

I was soon playing my game. I noticed how slow the game was going and the graphics seemed poor. I was sure that my old card had better graphics. If only I had visited ciao and found out about it before my purchase.

The Radeon 7000 is fine for anyone wanting a basic computer for word and paint but nothing more.

One good thing about the Radeon is the S-Video port. I like to watch my computers video's on my TV screen and with the S-VIDEO port I can do this. While the options are very limited it does the job ok.

I recently visited PC World and was surprised to still see this card for sale! It's now only £28 but is very out of date and shouldn't have a value on it.

- Review Dude's Final Thoughts -

The Radeon 7000 is overpriced, slow but does have an S-VIDEO port. The installation was easy but the graphics were poor. Don't purchase this.....
