ATI XPERT 98

In May last year I bought Star Wars Pod Racer for my computer.I paid £30 quid for the game and was upset to find you needed a 3D card to work the game. So I went out armed with a £100 quid to upgrade my computer from its 2D onboard card to a PCI card.I tryed my computer local computer fair whom recommended the ATI for gaming purposes for under £100 quid.He said anything that was better than this would be at least £150.I thought it would be a case of maybe £1 or £2 change from my money....Big shock....only £42 quid or for £58 quid I could have one with a TV out connection with all the leads so ... more

When I got this card, it was almost top of the range in the valie graphics card. In AGP format ATi's Xpert 98 boaster 8MB of graphics memory. Support for 2D and 3D graphics made gameplay lightning speeds. But back then games were only Doom, which the software didn't really test it fully. Now, I'm still using this card, it works quite well, but very jerky and about 8fps on Need for Speed 5 at 800 x 600. Still playable, and probably has a few years left in it yet.
