"The ATL Project" is the debut album from the R&B group ATL. Trč, Will, L-Rock, Danger came together in a local talent search in Atlanta, Georgia, the name of this contest is the reason for the choice in the title for the album, and their name comes from the city where they are all based. Despite the contest spanning only as far as this one city in the south of the US, their sound mangaged to reach out to the UK and even get the a top 25 single. The album came out in 2004, and they are yet to follow it up with any new material.

Advantages: Very original Disadvantages: Concept to album doesn't hold on
't the case, and it's not what the track is about; it's how they are perceived to be very alterantive in the ATL(anta), as Hip Hop of this time would never had made it big. The spacey sound effects are utilised to contiune the theme of them being outsider, hence their name OutKast.

This one begins with a speech by Big Rube, who comments on the actions of African Americans who are holding back their race by performing ignorant actions, and preventing them from advancing to the "Presidential Level" which was aspired to get to; which we currently appear to be at the dawn of. Once this is over, we get into a proper track.
I found this to be a nice end to the album as Andre and Big Boi are put on a mellow Organized Noise beat, for which they push for the advancement of back people by saying "'96 gon' be that ...
Advantages: Lots of bangers Disadvantages: Nothing specific
The 1990 debut from Above The Law (ATL) came as a fresh cut to represent a new rising out on the West Coast as after N.W.A and other Gangsta Rap acts who had emerged as a result. The Compton group (who consisted then of Cold 187um, KMG, Go Mack and Total K-Oss) worked alongside the ?Most Dangerous Rap Group? (N.W.A) with Dre on some of the production, and the rappers all coming together to lay down rhymes at the end of this ?Livin? Like Hustlers? album. It is also cited as the first G-Funk album, and this sub-genre was to be developed later for Dr. Dre?s debut ?The Chronic? and trying it out with other albums before late 1992.
