Watch Digital Terrestrial Freeview TV on your PC

Advantages: Digital TV, Good picture quality, Excellent remote, User friendly software
Disadvantages: Can't pay for some listed channels, No video editing software, Long recordings freeze the program

that accompany AVI files, as well as being able to play MP3 and other audio files once I switch it to 'Audio Mode'. Overall, the AVerTV software is excellent and scores highly in my book. I'm running the card on Windows XP Pro but it's also compatible with Windows 2000, nothing lower. The box says it's also compatible with Windows Media Center Edition (Windows MCE), which means you would not need to use the AVerMedia software and just use the MCE in-built media functions. A very useful product

Advantages: Watch TV and radio, use your games consoles on your PC!
Disadvantages: Pricey, but definitely worth it

I have had my AVerMedia AVerTV Studio 303 for just over a year now, because it came with my new PC, and only just set it up properly because I never thought I'd use it. I only wish now I had set it up sooner? This TV card plugs into the back of your PC and essentially allows your PC to function just like a free view TV, so you can watch TV and listen to radio. Also you can plug in any games consoles and use them on your monitor, which is pretty cool if you have a nice monitor and a good sound system. You can also record your TV programmes to hard disk in DVD quality - even if you're not around, using the useful timer system. The main reason I set it up though, was to consolidate my systems. I have a nice PC with a great monitor and a really good surround sound system, and a TV in another room. With my AVerMedia AVerTV Studio 303 ...

cheap and cheerful TV

Advantages: cheap, loads of inputs
Disadvantages: almost obsolete in the UK

I own one of these, it is an analogue TV card, and very soon is going to be obsolete in the UK. Here are some details Device Type: TV / radio tuner / video input adapter Enclosure Type: Plug-in card Interface Type: PCI Type: Video capture adapter Interface Type: S-video input, component video input Analogue Video Format: NTSC, PAL Analogue video Signal: S-Video, composite video Digital Video Format: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 Digital Video Capture Resolution: 720 x 480 Type: FM tuner - integrated Sound Input Mode: Stereo TV antenna - input FM antenna - input Composite video input - RCA S-video input - 4 PIN mini-DIN audio - line-out - mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm As you can see however, the card is well supported with connectors, so, if you can pick one of these cards up very cheaply, like around £3 on E-bay.... Ignoring the radio ...
