Advantages: Papers, magazines, food Disadvantages: High prices
...This BP has a good selection of newspapers and magazines, as well as snacks and drinks. I stop in here for papers and odds and ends, and the occasional bottle of wine. This station has a carwash and vacuum, though the vacuum is often broken (missing hose, etc). You should note though, this station is just around the corner from an ASDA petrol station, which -always- has petrol at 1p cheaper, often 2 or 3.
The associated garage is owned by separate people, as best I can tell. They do decent repairs, but are not the friendliest people around. Unless it's very convenient, I'd suggest going elsewhere unless you enjoy being patronised and talked down to. Likewise for the BP station itself, it's great for grabbing a few items and a few litres. But, unless you prefer to pay 2p more for what is less about 1/8 of a mile down the road, you...

Advantages: Hatchback for 4 Disadvantages: Old fogey reputation
...I've now had my Rover 25 for over a year, and not had a single problem from it (other than those imposed by the local vandals - but that's not to do with the car!). Having bought it off my stepdad-in-law, I also know that he has had not problems with it - so thats 3.5 years of hassle free motoring.
In terms of ride etc, it's pretty good - nice tight steering, firm suspension and enough poke to get around in. Built more solidly than alot of it's rivals, it also offers enough room for a small family - you can get 2 adults in the back, providing they are not giants, but I wouldn't want to do more than a 2 hour drive or so with adults...

Advantages: Fixed motoring costs, gutsy car with sporty feel, good extras Disadvantages: Painted bumpers, plasticky interior, not much stowage space
...Why choose Daewoo? Our Renault Clio had reached the stage at five years old where fault after fault developed. We needed (a) a slightly bigger car as it is our only one and our childen are bigger (b) to control our motoring costs and (c) to deal with an honest and reliable garage. All three considerations were met in full and we have a gutsy car to boot - the bhp compares favourably with the Ford XR3 as was (only things missing are the go faster stripes!!!) The air condition fitted as standard was a (literally) refreshing surprise!
The only motoring costs for the first three years are tyres! Everything - servicing, parts, labour and even the full RAC cover are provided. When work is required, if Daewoo are given advance warning or if an urgent problem has developed, they will provide a loan car. (The onus is on you to request...
