Advantages: Flexible study, good value for money, good tutor support Disadvantages: can be quite isolated, spare time, what's that?
...of the work!). Having said that, the course text for Elements of Statistics is a recommended text for the MSc I'm studying so it must be good. Applications of Probability contains a lot of Maths so it's useful to have some kind of Applied Maths experience beforehand and the same is true of Linear Statistical Modelling. Fortunately the OU website gives you pretty clear indications of any prerequisites. I find the approach the OU generally uses, with lots of examples and case studies, works really well as it's a lot less dry than pages and pages of numbers.
It's only now that I'm doing distance learning not with the OU that I realise just what a well-oiled machine the OU is. Couse materials were always delivered well in advance of the February start date (sometime even before Christmas) and any errors in the material were highlighted early on. I...

Advantages: Huge variety of very interesting modules to choose from Disadvantages: Impersonal at times, particularly in first year.
...I am currently in the middle of my second year of a BA (Hons) Economics degree at the University of Liverpool, currently starting my second semester. I aim to give you an outline of what to expect in the economics degree course.
In the first year, you have 5 compulsory modules, which are Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics, Statistics and IT for Business.
Microeconomics (ECON121) explains the basics of supply and demand in individual markets, and goes into topics such as production, monopoly and perfect competition and finishes with a brief introduction to General Equilibrium. Gets tricky towards the end of the module but Supply and Demand is a good start as it helps to ease you into the module.
Macroeconomics (ECON123) Looks at the basics of IS-LM (Goods and Financial Markets) and Aggregate Supply and Demand. It also...

Advantages: good value for money, good overall structure Disadvantages: distance learning is tough
...Over the past three years I have done four OU modules relating to statisticsM343 - Applications of probability
MDST242 - Statistics in society
M248 - Analysing data
M346 - Linear Statistical Modelling
Generally speaking, the level of support and the quality of educational material has been excellent. Only M343 was a disappointment, but I'll go into that later.
Written material - all unit materials were provided as good quality bound booklets, which after 9 months of thumbing were still in good condition (ie not cheaply produced). The level of writing was generally good, and although sometimes wordy, clear and fully explained some tough concepts. The level of understanding varied between courses, but was generally pitched well to ensure that all concepts were fully understood. A handbook which summarised all aspects...

I Bought this as a replacement for my previous D - Link Router which was the DSL - G604T. I upgraded due to me needing a faster router which could handle adsl +2 up to 24mbs. When I recieved it I done the usual setup, which required me to go online to more
We purchased this alongside a range of other Neff appliances when we did our kitchen recently. This was the single most expensive appliance in the kitchen - which is a shame because it is probably the least used!! HOWEVER...having an island hob that is more
