...A couple of years ago my partner was diagnosed with Diabetes and also a blood pressure level of 220 over 130, which was shockingly (as the nurse informed him) stroke level! And has been having treatment ever since and not nearly as many check-ups as he should have, so when I saw the advert on TV for Lloyds Pharmacy's Blood Pressure Monitor for only £9.99, I quickly snapped one up. Needless to say all family and friends and even the poor customers of our pub have been rigged up and thoroughly checked with this product! Advantages: clinically validated, accurate readings, easy to transport, display easy to read

...in the cuff. The accuracy always can be influenced by measurement errors made by the user of the machine, so you should always follow the instructions in the manual. Still: There is one source of error less due to the fact that it is an upper arm machine - you automatically wear the cuff on heart level, which is not the case for wrist blood pressure monitors. As there is only one button to switch the monitor on and off it is easy to use, which is a big advantage for the elderly. I gave the monitor to my granny (72) to try it and after she'd quickly skimmed the manual she could take her blood pressure without any problems even though she's usually quite insecure about new devices. ...I thought I would have a change from all the heavy stuff I have been writing about lately, and write about a little machine I bought about six months ago. The Omron MX3. It is a blood pressure monitor. All my life my blood pressure has been wildly erratic. The highest measured blood pressure I recorded was 180/100. High yes, but I had just spent 12 minutes on a treadmill having a heart test. Anyway it was back to 140/80 within 5 minutes. They told me that was great. Anyway when I go to the doctors it varies between 157/95 being the highest and 117/76 being the lowest. Generally though it is about 140/80-85 I have researched this a little and I have realised that your blood pressure can vary and change very rapidly.
