Sue Welfare's first novel of modern manners, now available in A format and in highly successful series style There are two ways to make sex pay. One is illegal and the other can land you in a whole lot of trouble. When writer Dora Hall's erotic novels become successful, her agent decides to cash in with a promotional tour. Unfortunately Dora's career is her best-kept secret, and so she is delighted when he hires a glamorous stand-in. Predatory blonde Lillian Bliss fulfils everyone's criteria; she's a walking sexual adventure, lapping up media attention and making it all look wonderfully simple -- until she starts to deviate from Dora's carefully written script. Chaos descends upon the small Norfolk town, local celebrities and politicians scrabble frantically to hide their seedy pasts and Dora's cover is completely blown. What began with a few little lies turns into a spectacular slice of mayhem in this wickedly witty and warm debut from a tremendously talented writer.

...of paperbacks, all for £1.99 or 3 for £5. This book was one of 3 that I chose in the hope that at least one of them would provide me with a good light read with a bit of comedy.
***The Background***
SueWelfare has written many books including some erotic novels but this is her second novel of this type, the first being A FewLittleLies. This was written back in 1999 and is a romantic comedy where the women take control.
***The Story***
Harry Bourne has everything he could possibly want, a wife who irons his shirts and cooks his meals, a mistress to take away at the weekends whilst he is on business meetings and a job that lets him get away with it all.
It all comes tumbling down, however, when suddenly his wife says enough is enough and decides she wants a life of her own. She kicks him out and he runs straight to his mistress...

...enjoy plots with crimes that happened many years before. It is difficult to make them believable - how may people can possibly remember something relevant so many years later that they didn't tell police about at the time? - but Sue Grafton just about gets away with it.
I found the book very addictive reading from start to finish. I did find the ending a little disappointing, mainly because it was always going to fall flat after such a build-up, but also because there were a couple of details left unexplanined. However, it didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the story and it is a book that I will certainly read again in the future.
I don't think it particularly matters whether you have read any of the series before; as a stand-alone book, it is fine in its own right. There are a few recurring characters, but they are always...

Advantages: Cheap and cute Disadvantages: Trivialises a useful and complex tool
...Feng Shui (or ‘foong schway’ for those in the know) is the ancient Chinese practice of improving good fortune and keeping bad luck at bay. This practice has been refined over many hundreds of years from a careful blend of aesthetics and detailed analysis. Understandably, it is probably realistic not to expect a great deal of this fine tradition to be captured in Lillian Too’s Little Book of Feng Shui. What I thought I'd get was a short introduction to the history, basic techniques and some beginner’s tips that were easy to put into action. I was primed to perk up my fame, wealth, love and happiness by improving the harmony of my external environment.
The good
This is a classic stocking stuffer or a small thank you gift. True to the title, it’s little (about 4 inches or 9.5 cms square) and fits easily...
