Beginning with the tense US victory in the 1993 Ryder Cup, this book tells the story of an unusually turbulent year on the PGA tour. It also provides portraits of leading golfers such as Nick Price, Tom Watson and Greg Norman, and of rising stars such as Paul Azinger. The author, a leading American sports journalist and radio commentator, discusses the players' private lives and examines the pressures of a high-profile sport with virtually no off-season, the intense competition to stay on the "money list", and the psychological dangers in a game in which a player's true opponent is always himself. John Feinstein has written for "Sports Illustrated", "The Washington Post" and "Sporting News", and is the author of "A Season on the Brink" and "Hard Courts".
Advantages: Spares you the agony and full details of John's illness Disadvantages: Too "Theatrical" in places , a real "luvvie" book
...of cancer.
John in the mean time was a bit of a ladies man having a few flings, he fell for a French actress but that didn't work and then a girl called Jennifer who broke his heart. Eventually he married a rich socialite called Sally and the two families couldn't have been different. John's home was the poor area of Manchester and Sally lived in the Home Counties. The wedding was lavish and paid for by her family. They had a daughter Abigail and had three years of marriage before Sally's affair ended what little trust John had left of her.
John returned to his bachelor days until he was asked to fill in for a character in the stage play "So what about love". Sheila Hancock was the female lead and though she was late on his first night and they didn't exactly hit it off straight away, apparently he didn't take his eyes off her after she did...

Advantages: Exciting intuative writing Disadvantages: All journeys end
...who has no skills whatsoever (certainly no bushraft) and seems to be a greater pain in the ass than sitting in a nettle patch. Bit without the interaction between Bill and Katz this book would not nearly be as good as it is.
The book starts with their journey at the end of the winter and have to survive snow and cold. They trek through endless woods, where on some days they meet some other hikers, on other days nobody at all. Bill looks at the pros and cons of modern hiking equipment, what is useful and what is absolutely pointless and just dead weight in your rucksack. The book follows from the mundane daily tasks such as searching for water and nights under the stars, encounters in small town and villages villages and the unusual meatings with bears and moose.
The book gives you the feeling that you are travelling with him, it does...

*Would I Recommend?
Hmm…I think I would, yes. Though, I think you have to be really focused when reading this as there is a lot to absorb and take in, so it's not really a good book to read when it's late at night and you're just starting to dose off!
I'm not sure what the target age is, but I'd say it is suitable for any teenager...
