Review of The Heart of the Matter - Graham Greene by  ally2kc

Advantages: A thought-provoking read with a central character to care about
Disadvantages: A bit depressing on occassion

...I have read Graham Greene casually over the years and had in fact started The Heart of The Matter Years ago before the book became misplaced during a move. Doctor Fischer, I presume...
Review of Doctor Fischer of Geneva - Graham Greene by  Kirsty1

Advantages: It sets the standard.
Disadvantages: Try to read it as slowly as possible so it's not over too soon.

...Doctor Fischer of Geneva is a toothpaste millionaire. He invented “Dentophil Bouquet” which claims to keep at bay the particular infections that are caused by eating chocolate. Doctor Fisher of Geneva lives in a classical white mansion on the lakeside at Versoix with his beautiful daughter Anna-Luise. Anna-Luise thinks of her pink and white bedroom as being “like a wedding cake.” Doctor Fisher of Geneva holds infamous dinner parties. Doctor Fisher’s dinner parties are “abominable.” ***************************************************** Graham Greene is one of those writers that you either love or hate. He writes about the human condition, about God, about the lack of God, about faith and about love. He has written far more famous and well-respected novels and short-stories than this one and if you are interested... Read review
