This book takes the reader through the history of how mental health patients have been treated, from 'keper' to 'mental health nurse'. It is result of Peter Nolan's research, observations and talks with hundreds of people, from mental health patients and their families to nurses past and present.

Unfortunately, the NHS is still a high profile political football and measures like waiting list are constantly used as an indicator of the health of the system. Attempts to control these bald figures have driven a particular focus within the NHS in directing any new funding towards these highly political priorities. More and more money is pushed towards the acute hospitals, the ones who provide accident and emergency, critical and surgical care, like those stereotyped in hospital drama series on television. ...to apply a lot of what I have learned to anatomy and physiology in my current nurse training.
Ross and Wilsons Anatomy and Physiology is a must have for all nursing students. It covers anatomy and physiology in both health and illness which I found very useful. It is very easy to read with glossary and diagrams throughout to aid learning. I found the book very helpful as it not only explains the normal structure and functions of the body, but also what takes place when disease or illness disrupts the normal processes.
The book is recommended ,by the authors, for a wide range of health care professionals including nurses, student nurses, students of the professions allied to medicine, paramedics, ambulance technicians and complementary therapists.
