Rita Blackthorn's heart was barren and hard. In all of her life she had never truly loved. But she had hated. Beneath the loving gaze of her daughter's soft green eyes, her heart swelled with dark and dangerous emotions. Young Cathy Blackthorn has never experienced any loving response from her mother; it is her beloved aunt Margaret, with a heart as big and warm as the summer sky, who has been more of a mother than her own could ever be. And when Cathy's father Frank Blackthorn brings home a London street urchin and announces this will be the son he and Rita have never had, Cathy despairs of ever winning her parents' love. Cathy is a generous soul, though, and tries to give the young lad a chance to prove himself but, unlike her best friend, David Leyton, something about him makes her more than uneasy...

Rosie reads the diaries in their entirety and decides she wants to do something for Kathleen before she dies (is she going to die)? Rosie goes on a search for some of the people mentioned in Kathleen's diaries - does she find anyone? You will have to read the book to find out whether there is a happy ending or not.
I guarantee you won't be disappointed! All the loose ends are tied up neatly with everything seeming to come full circle.

...If you like Catherine Cookson then you will love the novals by
JosephineCox. Most of her novals are set in the 18th Century. Whistledown Woman is perfectly written and concentrates on a little girl named Starlena,
named after the gypsy that took her in when her father gave her away
at birth, as he thought his wife had been unfaithful.
As Starlena grows up into a beautiful woman, she learns the secrets
of her parentage and where the beautiful brooch pinned to her shawl
came from. Her gypsy mother has always been afraid of of Starlena
finding out the truth and who is the person locked away in the Asylum.
Any JosephineCox book is worth every penny....
