A Little Princess is one of my all - time favourites. It is beautifully told and it is amazing how the main character, Sara Crewe, shows that every little girl is a princess on the inside, no matter how pretty or clever she is. She proves this when she treats the servant - girl as though she were any other girl, which she really was. Sara remains a princess even when something terrible happens that causes her to go from riches to rags. Luckily all ends well - I know the ending and it still doesn't make it less fun to read this charming, touching tale.
