I have been on Earth for half a century. 50 years. Wow. My daughter thinks I'm ancient.. I still feel like a teenager, myself, sometimes. Weird. I love reading, writing, cycling, photography, not so keen on work....

Some of Charles Dickens' novels are perhaps too long for our modern tastes. A Tale of Two Cities is an exciting adventure, with strong characters. If you're not used to the Victorian style of writing, this is a good introduction. there is plenty of action - though to describe the novel as 'action-packed' would be misleading. The recurring theme of liberty, second chances and faith in the human spirit is immensely reassuring. Some advice: if you're reading this story for the first time, don't be afraid to take notes and produce your own synopsis. It is worth perservering if you feel you're being bogged down in too much verbiosity. I re-read this novel every two or three years, and every time, I find something new, or that I had forgotten about.

Oh god..dickens always reminds me of dull english lit. classes. More detail needed here to be useful to people. I remember writing 1500 words on this damn book so I'm sure you can come a little closer.!!

Oh, you just got started, then you stopped! I'd love to read some more of your views on the book. Really.
Advantages: Everything good about Dickens' style is displayed in a challenging and consuming read. Disadvantages: Perhaps starts a little slowly before gaining speed, very challenging in parts, but is rewarding.
