Advantages: Easy to read, moving, compelling, ultimately heartwarming, Disadvantages: A VERY quick read, starts off slow, a bit weepie!
...things about Nicholas Sparks as a writer of meaningful, romantic fiction. As I read the opening chapter, I have to admit that I was disappointed. The prose was slow and a little clunky and awkward, and the narrating protagonist, Landon Carter, seemed to have little in common with his silver-screen counterpart.
However, as I continued through the pages I felt myself being drawn into his story. The plot essentially centres around a year or so in Landon's ... ...local minister's daughter, Jamie Sullivan, a misfit, devout Christian and all-round do-gooder who was the object of everyone's derision and contempt.
He finds his life being slowly tangled with hers, taking her to the school dance and bonding over another girl's drunken sickness, and helping her at the local orphanage. A book to remember. Review ofA Walk to Remember - Nicholas Sparksby

Advantages: Heartwarming, true to Sparks' style, bitter-sweet story. Disadvantages: Bit cheesy and predictable at times.
...Sparks such as: Message in a bottle, The Notebook, The Wedding, A Bend on the Road etc. then you know that this guy can really make you cry. In this book he evens worns you in the beginning but that makes the experience of reading it even more dramatic.
This story is of course about love, loss, grief and change. But while you read it, you also get this breeze of a wind that blows your face and says: it's ok, this has to happen, but it's gonna be ... ...that always walks around with a Bible in her hands, helps animals and does her best to help the local orphanage. No boy had ever asked her out and Landon had no intention to either before he found himself being her partner for the homecoming dance. From that point on, he is taken into a journey in which he will explore a side of him that is deeper and more true to his heart and feelings.
