Advantages: Insightful, informative, case studies Disadvantages: None
...As any sufferer knows, a panic attack brings about the most terrifying physical symptoms which can all but disable you.
After years of these dreadful experiences I decided to read up on what was happening to my body during the attacks so I could better understand the physical impact.
This book was a revelation. As well as citing case studies, Christine Ingham has a wealth of advice and information to help you fight back. What surprised me most was that a panic attack is actually the body's way of protecting you - commonly known as the fight or flight response.
I won't pretend that my problems end there, I have a long history of anxiety but I've not had an attack since reading this book. You calmly recite to yourself the reasoning behind each physical sensation and the panic subsides....
