life is getting more... |

Hello,
I don't normally complain about a service, in fact usually, I shy away from any kind of traumatic events that may linger on the fringe of the ridiculous. This is exactly what has happened with Abbey National.I've had a current account with them for over 7 years. I was happy with the service, until recently. 4 weeks ago I asked my local branch that I want to be registered for eBanking. I was told it would take 6 days for the process to be mailed to me. I hasten to add that it did not happen, on the 10th day, I contacted by local branch by phone and said that it will be with me by the following week. I hasten to add that this did not happen either. On the 12th day, I then decided to go and sort this out by visiting my local branch. They did not have the information available, as the computer system was playing up. On the 16th day, I called the local branch again and was promised that the information had been sent from head office. I hasten to add that no information was sent. On the 22nd day, I walked in my local branch and asked again, this time their was no computer glitches so they could now do their job.
I was told that I had already been registered for eBanking and as you can imagine it was confusing to say the least. I then went through to customer support. Incredibly, the local branch telephone kept cutting out and reconnecting every 10 seconds during the conversation, to a man in Delhi. The man could not understand me and worse still I could not understand him. The boiling point went when I was asked to give my account details within 3 yards from a busy lunchtime bank queue, because the line was so bad. I had to shout it, all for everyone to hear. The Delhi man said my account had gone to collections, even though the account is in the BLACK. It appeared that was a big bank blunder again.Collections were just as unhelpful, except they could speak English. Apparently there was a glitch in the system again, by saying that comment, they felt it made it alright, kind of acceptable. Collections said that the system WILL right itself and the account won't be discreditted in the future. Yeah right.... it won't.
I've got to wait yet another 2 weeks. For a service that should of taken 6 days, all in all it will take up to 7 weeks to sort out.It looks as if I'm not the only one either going by these reviews.
Abbey makes life more complicated by the day.Thank you for reading my bumbling
