Advantages: Freeware with a good set of features. Disadvantages: Some bugs and missing features, but nothing serious.

The answer was no, and with a coursework deadline looming I needed to find a word processor. I found AbiWord after a brief search and have been using it now for about 6 months.
AbiWord has ... ...it is to create a feature-rich word processor and release it free to the public. They`re doing a good job because this program has got me through 4 coursework assignments to date without letting me down once, and I have no doubt it will serve you just as well!

I'm writing this review in AbiWord, a free, Open Source word processor for Linux and Windows.
With an easy to use interface, similar to Word, AbiWord packs most of the features that Microsoft Word has (or needs), whilst staying fast and effective. It also has the advantage of being free and Open Source, which means that it tends to be more reliable and gets developed faster than other programs.

Tried this as an alternative to Microsoft Word but it lacks any ability to find "end of paragraph" marks or join lines together which for the stuff I edit regularly is a necessity. So, back to Word I suppose :(
