Advantages: Wide range of courses Disadvantages: Cramped and aging buildings
...Yorkcollege, the union of the York Sixth Form Colleg and the YorkCollege of Further and Higher Education is a halfway house between school and university. As of its large size and has an almost campus layout it has that uni feel. However the fact that you still live at home and are well catered for indicate otherwise. It has a great many computer facilities and reasonable sporting ones. The campus os reasonable but a good lick of paint and a removal of all things 60s would not go amiss.
It is close to Tesco's nice food there, not to mention toys (well we are students!) There is a wide range of courses, from A levels to GNVQ's and evening courses, it even does diplomas. The college is dynamic and sucessful, well worth a look!...

Advantages: Everything, you learn confidence, skills and pride. Disadvantages: None
...As the title suggest I am here to sing the praises of College. I had my daughter at the age of 17, got no school qualifications and then returned to College at the age of 25 (once I grew up and returned to my senses!). I firstly did an NVQ in Business Administration, I got a pass in Level 3 and 6 RSA typing and word/text processing exams. I then went on to an AccessCourse in Law and Business at the same College. I had the opportunity to go to University, which I did, and I am now working in a satisfying, well paying environment, I pay all my own bills and bring up two children, with my husbands support. All this proves the these Collegecourses really do work and I will forever pleased that I took the first scary step into the real world....

Advantages: Cheap accomodation, excellent teaching, friendly Disadvantages: Not the most exciting place on Earth
...Having recently finished a degree at York University, I am well-equipped to persuade or disuade people from making it their choice. Some will arrive in York and see a dull and apparently lifeless campus, dominated by horrible 1960s concrete and few redeeming features. But don't give up so easily. It is true that the campus is not the prettiest, but some of the accomodation, especially James College, is of a very high quality. Though it is also true that York is hardly a vibrant city and that the nightlife leaves a lot to be desired, Leeds, Bradford and Sheffield are all in close proximity and provide useful alternatives when Toffs or the Gallery get tired. But the best feature about the University remains the teaching quality, which is excellent in almost every department. In particular, the History and English departments deserve...
