super service

Advantages: great service
Disadvantages: none

...service and internet service from bt for 4 years before changing to virgin media and the only reason i changed was that bt didnt do a tv service and it seemed silly not to have everything with the same supplier but bt have now began a tv service aswell so as soon as my contract is up with virgin media i will be going back to bt. Bt never gave me any problems at all, they came to my home and fitted my phone and set up my computer on the day they ...
...me £5 a month for my bill but when you work that out over a year that comes to £60, that would have paid my bill for 2 months. I canot fault bt for the service they provided for me and will be so pleased to return to them. ...

Lets all sit in a circle and reconnect

Advantages: Low pings for ISDN for gaming
Disadvantages: After the two hour cut off, can take 5 minutes to reconnect

I have been using freeserve for about a year now, ever since I got ISDN. I mainly use my internet connection for playing games and any gamer will be aware that a low ping is vital to succeed. I am very pleased in that Freeserve give me a nice and low 30-60 ping in games. Given that a typical ADSL/Cable ping will be less than 40 or so, 60 is a very good ping for ISDN. I have tried other ISPs (BT argh!) where my pings have been little under 140 and ...
...or even more to reconnect. Freeserve advertise that you can reconnect `straight away` after you get disconnected, but I, and many many others I have spoken to, have found that you cannot in fact and will have to wait a bit for the line to not be busy. Other than that freeserve are a very good 56k/ISDN ISP and I highly recommend them. Oh and they keep sending me letters about how I average more than 16 hours a day and they will cut me off. I`ve received ...

Totalise,dumps non-subscribers e-mail accounts!

Advantages: Used to be a good e-mail server.
Disadvantages: No communication. Pulled the plug.

...of horrors! Turns out that Totalise have removed the ability to access mail through anything but the web UNLESS you subscribe to their services, i.e. pay for and use their dial-up numbers. A less cynical person than myself might conclude that the appalling lack of speed on the webmail is a ploy to get people to pay for the dial-up..... I rang to confirm this with technical support who couldn't confirm anything unless I rang the 0906 number at £?*! ...
...address book to tell them Totalise is now Totally Stuffed. Totaloosers! Sorry if this is a bit of a rant but I have calmed down, you should have seen me two hours ago! I am absolutely disgusted at being treated in this fashion and would happily insert Peter Gregory's share certificate where the sun don't shine if I could get my hands on him. This company has gone downhill over the years. The original ethos of common share ownership and good service ...

Onetel? One-Hell!

Advantages: Quick at sending out Legal summons
Disadvantages: Cannot fix line faults without a £120+ fee.

Onetel are probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. My line developed a fault, and I contacted them straight away. I was told that it would take a week for a call out, and I would be charged £120 if the fault lay between the exchange and my house. I reluctantly accepted this, even though it goes against the terms and conditions I had signed up to. However, 2 weeks later, still no phone line, so I rang to ask them about what was going on. ...
...However, I can say that Onetel can act quickly if you cancel your direct debit. After 6 weeks, I have just recieved my first threat of legal action! They are really speedy in this department guys! In general. I think they are only after your money, and dont care about after service. They do offer cheaper calls and line rental, which is fine if things are working fine. However, if things do go wrong, you will regret joining them. I only wish I could ...

No longer free but still worth checking out

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...we had installed on it IC 24. It was a free ISP which gave free access to the internet. So you had to download a dial up connection which gave you a 0800 phone number and then you could enjoy free internet access. However, due to the demand and surge in members IC 24 is no longer able to give free access. Having tried various free companies which gave free internet access, we did find IC 24 to be the best. Yes, at times it was slow to connect up ...
...they give you. IC 24 are now going to offer monthly subscriptions and then you can connect back to them. I wonder seriously consider changing to them from BT Surftime if cheaper. On my last bill I realised that we had been charged £11.99 for BT Surftime even though it’s suppose to be £9.99. You can check out IC 24 on www.ic24.net for more information. What I was impressed was that for free connection just how good they were. You didn’t ...
