Most signs of middle age you can ignore. Grey hairs, wrinkles, the endless aches and pains. All can be denied much of the time. The one thing you can't disregard is that nagging voice in your head. You know the one. It sounds a bit like the late Johnny Cash. And it says "Son, it's time you thought about buying a Honda."
That voice first spake unto me about six years ago. And yea, though I was sore afraid, I resisted for a while. But in July 2001, I found myself wandering the wilderness of a used car supermarket, running my fingers idly along the smooth curves of a 1999 Honda Accord saloon in Senility Silver. (It is also available in Retirement Red and Last of the Summer Burgundy). A few days later I was handing over a cheque for £7,395.

Advantages: It's fast, superb gear change, rides and handles well Disadvantages: Tiring engine, lots of gear changing, high CO2
This is not an easy review for me to write. I am going to come clean in the first place and state that after thirteen months and 32,000 miles I know the latest model Honda Accord?..let's say intimately?..
?but not, fortunately as it turns out, this "hot rod" 2.4 cylinder petrol version.
Mine is a 2.2 i-CTD-i (diesel), a vastly superior car for reasons which I hope will become all to clear to you at the conclusion of this driving experience. Visiting the Millbrook Testing Ground in Bedfordshire for Company Car in Action last year, my wife and I drove up from the south coast in our own, company owned, diesel Accord.
Yes, mine was one of the first of this model on the road, but here at this event in June, Honda were taking the opportunity to 'launch' the diesel version of the successful new Accord to the all important fleet market ...

You may have read about my useless car which I wrote about some time ago. Well a few months ago I finally got rid of my MGTF and bought myself a decent car instead. I use the word 'decent' to describe the build quality of my new car and not as a comparison in design, handling, and features etc. I realise that a direct comparison is impossible as the 2 cars are completely different both in terms of the type of person they are aimed at and the uses to which they would be put to.
My new car is a 2005 Honda Accord 2.2 i-CTDi Executive and I bought it mostly because of how comfortable and feature rich it was during the test drive but also because of the excellent review written by RichadA who I think should receive at least a small amount of commission :).
