It was at exactly 2.15am that, with a loud 'twang' and a rattle, the mainspring of my bedside alarm clock snapped. I had been soundly asleep and sat bolt upright trying to work out what had just happened. It soon dawned on me that the familiar ticking of the clock was missing. So when I was doing my normal shopping I went into several shops seeing if any of them had a clock. Only the local hard ware shop had a choice but they were all quartz and that wasn't what I wanted. As we live in a newly built property it's fair to say that we have had a few little niggles, power surges causing things to trip during the night and various other things became the norm for the first few months in our flat and it was for this reason that I spent £4.80 on this Acctim Alarm Clock, in gold, from Amazon about 6 weeks ago. This alarm clock is around 400g in weight so is nice and lightweight if I have to pick it up in the morning. Acctim's Saxon Alarm Clock is well-built with a chrome finish, and although it is robust enough to take any number of knocks it is still quite light, presumably meaning that it is light enough to throw across the room and strong enough not to break, although I can't claim to have tried this myself. The clock looks very attractive and has a large face (a little smaller than a cd) with numbers that are easy to read even with blurry vision, and it also comes with glow-in-the-dark dots and lines on the hour and minute hands and by each of the numbers, to allow for telling the time at night.
