Advantages: Great film Disadvantages: Gert Frobe as Goldfinger not up to scratch with the others
In 1964, Guy Hamilton took the director's chair for the third James Bond film from EON productions, based on the books of Ian Fleming, entitled Goldfinger. It followed in the box office success of the previous 2 Bond films, Dr No and From Russia With Love.
The Plot
The Bank of England have noticed that someone seems to be amassing a large amount of gold and suspects something is afoot. James Bond is sent to befriend Auric Goldfinger, international bullion dealer, as he is their chief suspect, and Bond uncovers a plot far larger than anything they had imagined. Operation Grand Slam is designed to contaminate the entirety of the gold in Fort Knox, and Bond is the one man who can stop it.
The Cast and Performances
Sean Connery gives another outstanding performance as Bond, and for someone who did not speak a word of English ...
Advantages: Great film, best of the Bonds. Disadvantages: It ends.
Many people won't understand the genious of criminals. Auric Goldfinger wants to change that, he orginises a raid on Fort Knox, but not to steal any gold. Leave that to you.
A absoulute masterpiece, one of the best films I have ever seen, not just the best Bond. Some people will be unable to follow the plot, but it is quite obvious really.
A wonderful soundtrack makes every second the track is on worth every milisecond. The end, in which Goldfinger is outwitted by Bond is cleverly done as well, even if most people fail to miss the point.
Little known fact: The bloke who played Goldfinger, Gert Frobe (I think his name is) could not speak a word of English, and was entirely dubbed by an English actor. It is very hard to tell. ...

This charming comedy is justly famous as the film that made the whole world fall in love with Audrey Hepburn and half the world want to run out and buy a Vespa scooter. Hepburn was always beguiling, but in some of her later roles she tended to overplay the winsomeness. Here every note she hits is just about perfect.
And speaking of notes, pay special attention to the score by the great Georges Auric. Auric's complex, vibrant, evocative music complements the story's inherent lyricism without upstaging it. In an era of bombastic film scoring, this seems a miracle.
Someone once said that Audrey Hepburn's was the beauty of possibility and transformation - she was always in motion, always becoming something else. "Roman Holiday" is very much of a piece with that notion. On the surface, the film is about a princess who disguises herself ...
