Advantages: Easy to use, preserves fingers! Disadvantages: Some machines are faster
Not sure if I have listed this in the right place ? Apologies if not!
I?ve been diabetic for over 26 years; in fact, it?s how I met my husband, who?s been a diabetic for over 33 years!
Blood testing meters are such a hit or miss affair, and I have found it difficult to find reviews when updating our machines. Hooray for Ciao!
My husband had recently replaced his old meter with an Accu-Chek Advantage, and spoke very highly of it, so I thought I would ?borrow? his for a day or two and see if it was suitable for me too.
To be honest, I have always been very skeptical of the ?Virtually pain free? claims made by many companies regarding their finger-prickers. Do these people ever test these things on themselves?!
The Advantage finger-pricker has an easily adjustable depth and it took me just two goes to find the perfect ...
Advantages: Nice easy to use features and operating Disadvantages: even though designed for in dark, cannot use.
I have always used tyhe Accu-Chek range and this is my latest meter. Its a nice looking meter and takes simple and easy to use loading the drum cartridges and no fuss when testing on the move. It is black with a bright green display which is for use in the dark i guess but the only problem with that is you cant see your finger or where to put the strip to suck the blood into the strip. so i didnt see the point of using it in the dark. If you dont keep it in the case it comes with you will get a error 5 come up which means there is dirt in the machine, and this happens a lot so you always need to have the case with the machine inside. I had problems with one, where it failed to load but accu check replaced it as i had it registered, so make sure you do that. also free batterys for life. ...
Advantages: Quick reading in just 5 seconds Disadvantages: carry case needs some work

In either case to help prevent future health problems, it is advisable to maintain your blood glucose levels between 4.00 mmol and 8.00 mmol.
I had two Glucotrend blood glucose monitors, plus one which belonged to the hospital (which needs returning when I?m there next). So why on earth would I want another one? Easy, - I lost both of the original Glucotrend meters! I searched high, I searched low and even the bit in the middle ? but to no avail ? no meter was to be found! Lucky for me then Accu-chek were offering a £10 voucher off their new active monitor in the latest copy of ?Balance? (Diabetes UK magazine). I rung up for the voucher and sure enough the next ...
