I’ve been ordering from Ace Gifts and Cards for about 10 years now, and have never been disappointed with the goods or service I’ve received.

I’ve been ordering from Ace Gifts and Cards for about 10 years now, and have never been disappointed with the goods or service I’ve received.
The catalogue is usually around 400 pages long and sells – as you would imagine – gifts and cards.
The first 100 or so pages are devoted to Christmas items. These include cards, wrapping paper and tags, crackers, fairy lights, calendars (including advent calendars), Christmas sweets, festive table cloths & napkins, Christmas trees and decorations. Prices for these are reasonable, and examples are:
Pack of 16 Christmas cards – from 2.00, 3m roll of wrapping paper from 2.00, 400g boxes of pick a mix sweets – 4.00 Boxes of crackers – from 4.00.
After the Christmas section, there are about 50 pages devoted to children’s toys. There are all sorts of toys - some are suitable from birth, others such as arts & craft type toys or computer games are suitable for a much older child, as well as lots of gifts for ages in between. Again, prices are reasonable and some young toys can be bought for as little as 4.00. Computer games are available for Playstation one and 2, Nintendo, PC or Xbox. Aswell as the games, you can also buy the consoles.
There is another section for clothes – but more character designs than high street. Characters such as Barbie, Tweenies, Fimbles and various football teams can be seen on pyjamas, dressing gowns and t-shirts.
Other sections in the catalogue have only a few pages, but these include:
Pets – bowls, mats, gifts etc Bedding – children’s and adults – all bed sizes Puzzles – including some with 5000 pieces Ornaments Alcohol gift sets Exercise equipment Perfume & Aftershave Jewellery Collectables Stationery – including Wedding stationery Birthday wrapping paper and cards Kitchen utensils Dinner sets Electricals – including televisions, fridge freezers, microwaves, stereos, kettles irons etc Telephones Furniture – including sofas and beds
It’s not actually possible to operate this catalogue as an agent as no commission is paid on orders.
There is a standard postage charge on all orders of 2.95. It is good to bear that in mind if you are just going to buy a couple of things.
You receive a bill each month which can be paid by cheque, credit card or bank giro. Any uncleared balance has interest charged at 2p for every 1.00 owing.
Items are usually sent out and received within 1 week of ordering, but if there is likely to be a delay you will be notified (so they say – but this has never happened to me). Personalised items and heavy goods take up to 21 days.
Orders can be made by posting the order form, by telephone or now by email.
If you think you’d like to get a catalogue – the telephone number is 08706 033443 – or the website is www.24ace.co.uk.
If you’re stuck on a gift for someone – or just don’t want to brave the shops near Christmas – its worth a look in the catalogue – there seems to be something for everyone in there.
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Once they have hold of you, they keep asking for more !
Ace Cards & Gifts are the worst people I have ever dealt with. They claim that I owe them money when I do not. I received some items from them which were very cheap & nasty and obviously made in China. I sent them back and they claim to have not received one item which was priced at £10. They then added other charges onto this £10 which made it untenable to pay. They continue to send letters adding even more charges and it's up to well over £100 ... ...they constitute continual harassment.
Ace Cards & Gifts sent me sub-standard imported junk and once they have you in their grasp, they keep trying to take more money from you, so a £10 purchase has the capacity to make them 10x the amount by them inventing payment default methods that leaves you fearing court.
This company is so dubious they appear to even write their own reviews on forums if you read around. Some reviews are nothing more that ...

...by saying I have used Ace before and did not have any problems, which is why I used their website to purchase some Christmas gifts this year. I purchased only 2 items, which made the postage and package slightly expensive, but I really like the items, so thought it was worthwhile.
I went through the order process for the items receiving an order acknowledgement at the end for both items.
Imagine my surprise when I received an invoice telling me ... ...to get through to the Ace "Customer Services" department. I was told that as the item that was in stock was personalised, I was not allowed to cancel. I could understand this, but asked that they keep the item on hold until my second purchase came into stock and then send both items out together. This was not possible as "they did not know when the other item would come back into stock and they could not hold my order forever" - I remind you of the ...

I ordered a dolls house in October 2008 and was told that it would be delivered in early December 2008. After many phone calls we were finally told that they did not know where it was and sent us a form to confirm that we had never received it. Received a statement which included the dolls house. Another phone call stated that they could not remove this from my account until they had traced it. To date I have never received confirmation that it has been removed from my account. I will never buy from them again. They don't seem to know what they are doing. ...

Advantages: Shop at home Disadvantages: Non exsistant customer service
In October i placed an order for goods totalling £18.75. My statement came and i put it on the side to pay (but must have forgotten). Cam across the statement and immediately paid via cheque. This cheque crossed in the post with my next statement which included a charge of £20 admin fee. I checked my agreement which states this is for for a reminder that they or some1 acting for them send you. My cheque crossed in the post with my next statement ... ...resolve this via phone & post several times, the months have passed & although i paid for my goods of £18.75, they are threatening to send me to court for the £106 that is now outstanding, ALL fees I might add. No1 there wants to help. I received computer generated letters in response to my letters, each time their letter is from a different person. I got offered a £30 voucher if i spent another £20 in their catalogue! They tell you to write in as ...
