Advantages: Cheap and easy way to boast your PC speed Disadvantages: Can be a little delicate in the wrong hands
-line shopping site giving the best deal, so I decided to buy two of the 2 GB Kingston Value RAM modules as they gave the same specifications as many others, only these were more than half the price?which is a real godsend in these downtrodden times.
** The module specifications?
* 2GB
* PC2-5300
* DDR2 SDRAM
* 667MHz
* SODIMM200pin
* Non-EEC
* Unbuffered
* 1.8V supply
* Gold lead plating.
* 1.181 inch high
I could ?pad? this review out with what some technical stuff about what the specs mean, like what EEC stands for and what unbuffered does, but that would be pointless and a bit boring really so I wont, (plus, people may think I was just showing off). But as long as the specs on your new RAM match the specs on you installed Ram tehn your laughing.
** IN CONCLUSION?
What can you say about any memory module ...
Advantages: easy to install and great value for money Disadvantages: could not think of any
i update my computer on a regular basis. i upgraded from a 2 gig to a 4 gig around 12 months ago and i found my computer to be slower and un resposive to what i needed. i read up on the web and found that the brand that i bought was not of the best quality and was told to try kingston. so i did. the following day i bought 4 gig and ive never been happier. my computer now runs at the speed you would exspect from a 4 gig system. thay are easy to fit and come in the minimal amount of packaging that would be needed for a item of this size. as for the value for money, if i had bought the kingston dram first then i would have saved £10. kingston will be my only upgrade option in the future ...
Advantages: Always reliable and trouble free Disadvantages: Not the cheapest
Over the past few years I have built and upgraded all my household PCs and laptops and in that time I have tried many types of memory. I have tried unbranded types with varying degrees of success, I then worked my way through various so called branded names and encountered error problems, unreliability and huge variation in prices. I am not saying that all other brands are rubbish as I currently have a laptop that is running on 1gig of another brand with no problem. However as far as Kingston goes I have bought over ten memory sticks, the most recent being two sticks of 512mb of PC2700 DDR333 for the PC that my daughters both use, and it is worked hard, and there is a noticeable improvement in stability and performance. My overall opinion is by all means try different types of memory but if reliability and not cost is your priority then ...
