Overview

Well last Friday I went to switch on my PC and all of a sudden I heard a large crackling sound, next thing you know the monitor doesn’t switch on. To be honest I wasn’t to annoyed by this the monitor was about 11 years old. So today (28-4-07) I went hunting for a new screen for my computer, wouldn’t you know it I found one in Tesco for a reasonable price of £100.

== Picture quality ==

When I first turned on my new screen I thought that I had done something wrong, the image was very blurred, actually it was just out of focus, it took me no time to find out how to sort this out, since then the picture quality has been amazing, and much crisper than the old style tube monitor.

== Image size ==

My old monitor was a 15 inch and was made to look even smaller by the thick layer of plastic surrounding it. This new 17 inch monitor makes everything look a lot bigger, obviously because of the extra two inches but there isn’t that much plastic surrounding the screen which makes it look bigger.

== Colour sensitivity ==

since I sorted out the focus the colour has looked phenomenal, it really picks out each colour very well and separates them just as well making the image look even clearer, and if you don't like the preset moods there are three others to choose from and you can customise it your self t get the image that you want.

== Design ==

This monitor looks great; it has crisp lines surrounding the screen making it look very stylish. This is also helped by the colours used to decorate the black and the silver work so well together and compliment each other beautifully. The embossed Acer logo in the stand also adds a touch of class to this already stunning product.

== Ease of installation ==

The only thing that you have to do to install this product is plug in two wires, it is really very simple. However if you have never done it most of it is colour coded and the power source only has one whole that it fits in and the other end is a plug so you cant go two wrong.

== Screen when refreshing ==

like most people when I got my new toy I wanted to play with it straight away and the first thing I did was to play with the settings, when the new changes were applied they happened instantly which is very good. Also when opening pages this monitor has a 8ms reaction time which is much better than other monitors.

== Value for money ==

Like I said earlier I was looking around a lot today for a new screen, the cheapest I found was a 15 inch by a Chinese company I had never heard of and I figured that this would probably break in the first five minutes. So I went along to trusty Tesco looking for a bargain, I then found a 15 inch Acer for £89.99 but they were out of stock, hence why I got the 17 inch Acer instead.

Although this screen cost £10 more at £99.99 there is a lot more screen and I am glad that I got the bigger one, I am also glad that I got it from a reliable brand like Acer, and for a 17 inch, LCD, Flat screen monitor this is a great price well worth the money.
