The Acer 1916C. This has been with me for a while now, and I've connected it up to desktops and laptops. I've used this for surfing the net, playing games, watching videos and working on websites.
I bought this mainly because I wanted a large (19") flatscreen monitor with a decent resolution, which I could use for working and playing on. I deliberately didn't go for the widescreen version of this because I expected to also play games on it.
Things I like about it: - It's slick - Was easy to setup out of the box - Decent screen size - 5ms response - i.e. fast response for games and movies - 700:1 contrast - i.e. high quality, the higher the better. - came with both VGA and DVI cables (you might be amazed at the number of monitors which only provide one of the two cables - which would probably set you back £5!)
Things I didn't like about it - The height of the flatscreen can't be adjusted. I've put a book underneath to upraise it. - The screen can't be tilted to face upwards / downwards. Something else I had forgotten to consider. It shouldn't matter too much if it's at the right height - but ideally, it should tilt slightly upwards.
One thing - make sure that you change the default brightness settings! When I picked this up initially, it was too bright, giving a bit of a headache after an hour's use - this was fixed by decreasing the brightness and reducing the colour settings.
Other things of note: - It's a large screen. Leave approximately 60cm of space between your eyes and the monitor. (about 2 A4 sheets lengthways = ~60cm) - Watching movies, I tend to chill out about a meter away. :)
Overall, I think this is a great piece of kit, the only annoyances letting it down is the unadjustable height and tilt, and the default brightness settings (which can be fixed)
