The Colour
On this screen, blacks appeared grey and bright colours appeared pastel. Overall awful colour rendition. You get what you pay for. I arranged a return within ten minutes of turning it on.
The Connectivity
The specififcations make this look like a fantastic screen, particularly for the price; however it simply isnt, it is cheap for a reason, it doesn't support DVI (which I knew when I bought it), only
VGA, and the whole monitor had the look and feel of a value brand. By compariosn to other
monitors this size and resolution, you could find this very disapointing. Other
screens this size typically have VGA, DVI, Component, Composite, SVHS, and some even
HDMI inputs. With this in mind you really are likely to wish you bought a better one in just a couple of years time.
The Design
The design of the screen is satisfactory, if a llittle cheap and "plasticy". This would not be my choice, but it does do the job, and for the price, that is acceptable, if I want a monitor that is stylish, then I expect to pay a bit more for a company to employed a designer. This is a very plain and straight forward looking monitor, that would not look out of place in any office, although you might not want it in your
living room.
The Configuration
It is very easy to set up, but then it is only a monitor, you
plug in two cables and if it doesn't just work then it is already too complicated; this one performed as expected, two cables and it was up and running,
The Reasons To Buy
The monitor does have a nice high resolution, so you can fit plenty on the screen at a time, for example you can open a word document on this screen and
display two
pages side by side at 100% which can make reading a document so much more comfortable and natural, I find using a screen this big invaluable, particularly when I am just "scanning" a doucment for a snippet of information. If you want a big screen, make sure it has this resolution (1920x1200).
The Support
I can't comment on manufacturer support as I decided to send mine back to the retailer so soon after it arrived.
The Reasons Not To Buy
Overall, it simply does not compare to other monitors. I did compare this against the screen on my
Acerlaptop (
Aspire 5000 series) and also both
Dell and
Samsung screens of identical size and resolution, and all massivley out performed this screen for colour depth and accuracy.
The Testosterone
Ok, if you want a big cheap screen to impress your
mates down the pub, then go right ahead and buy this one, it is BIG, and it probably will be bigger than any of theirs, but don't turn it on unless you want them to laugh. If you want a screen that you can appreciate, dont buy it.
The Alternative
I use a
24" monitor everyday and I would reccomend one to anyone, but not this one, buy a Dell or a Samsung or a HP (all of which I have used and tested) just don't buy this one.
