Acer Aspire 5738G-644G50MN

Advantages: Bright screen,Huge memory
Disadvantages: Odd Glossy finish, annoying mouse button

A bright 15.4 inch screen, huge hard disk, and seemingly unlimited levels of memory make this a great home laptop, this to me seems where it is best suited rather than as a business notebook. Its reasonable if not good price make this centrino laptop a very good choice. - Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit, Sp1) - Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 (2.00GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB) - 15.4? HD Acer CineCrystal LED LCD - 4GB DDR3 Memory - 1244 MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD - 250 GB Hard Drive - DVD SuperMultiDl with BluRay disc drive - 0.3 megapixel integrated webcam - Purchased from PC World £450 Build: While i wouldn't say its likely to fall apart, this laptop isn't one i would fancy dropping down the stairs. After days the incredibly glossy rear screen was scratched and lead me to buying ...

Review of Acer Aspire 5738ZG

Acer plays the Ace card again!

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great performer. Can handle some 3D games.
Disadvantages: None for the Netbook, but Linux version is rubbish.

I have revised my review after using the netbook for a while. I purchased the Acer A150 because I was going on a cruise and wanted something small and light. I decided on the Linux version of this netbook for £235, the Windows XP version is around £269. The Operating System First thing I need to say about it is Linux, what a joke with its limited functions and the hassle you need to go through to add new features. I wanted DivX support so I could watch movies at night but after a few hours looking for a suitable program and drivers I gave up. Linux isn't as straightforward as Windows and in many cases you have to open up a console and type commands when you want to install or make changes to an installation. I gave up and Installed Xp pro. If you are purchasing a Netbook with Linux and all you want to do is surf the net ...
