Advantages: Reliable & Easy to Use Disadvantages: Short battery life
...What can i say? This laptop has been great. It is easy to use with a large 15 inch monitor which is clear even on bright sunny days. The only gripe that i have with this laptop is that the battery life is much too short and a 2nd battery costs about £100. The speed of the computer is pretty good, however, if i do upgrade it in any way, i will be getting another memory stick to take me up to 512mb SDRAM. I find that when browsing the internet and using the touch mouse. my pages tend to go back and forth however, this has happened on every laptop that i have used with a touch mouse. Perhaps it's just my heavy handedness!...

Advantages: Large screen and fast chip Disadvantages: Noisy and the case gets hot
...Brought an acer 1315LM last August for just over £850. Had to send it back for repairs after 11 months as it wouldn't turn on, acer returned it after 3 days stating nothing was wrong! It fixed itself in transit - never had a problem since?
The LCD screen is very bright and clear with no blurring, although from time to time it goes a bit darker, something to do with the battery saving I believe. Never tried the TV out as no wire is included but did attempt to use dual monitors with the laptop screen and standard monitor - couldn't get it to work.
No windows XP cd is provided, instead you have a XP restore disk made from norton ghost. The version I had was totally unstable and crashed every 30 minutes, only when I did a real format did the laptop become totally stable. Drivers are available on the acer website.
While it may...

Another problem is sometimes the DVD-Drive gets jammed shut and, doesnt open unless you hit the side of the tower. Another problem is there arent enough USB Ports and their isnt any on the front of the tower, like an Aries computer or a Packard Bell.

I bought mine on ebay for £360, I needed it for university study and it's working really well for small documents like word and excel and it will also play some games well, mainly Unreal Tournament online :-)
The disk space of 60GB is plenty for me.... more
Compared to my old 333Hz desktop, this machine goes like the wind! In my opinion it is a fast, reliable and ultimately portable computer with all the features you would expect from a normal desktop PC.

A great buy!
Having used computers for years but never having bought one of my own or being very 'technically' minded I had no clue what kind of a laptop I needed or wanted. Basically I just wanted something stylish to use the internet on at home! I more
