Advantages: Reliable & Easy to Use Disadvantages: Short battery life
...What can i say? This laptop has been great. It is easy to use with a large 15 inch monitor which is clear even on bright sunny days. The only gripe that i have with this laptop is that the battery life is much too short and a 2nd battery costs about £100. The speed of the computer is pretty good, however, if i do upgrade it in any way, i will be getting another memory stick to take me up to 512mb SDRAM. I find that when browsing the internet and using the touch mouse. my pages tend to go back and forth however, this has happened on every laptop that i have used with a touch mouse. Perhaps it's just my heavy handedness!...

Advantages: Value for money Disadvantages: Noisy fan
...I bought an Acer 1315LM last August as it was a very good price at just under £800.
For that price, I was getting 256Mb of RAM, a 15" TFT LCD screen, a massive 40GB hard drive (which was large at the time for a laptop), and a DVD-RW drive.
It came pre-installed with Windows XP, 3 months of Norton Anti-Virus, and Cyberlink PowerDVD. The last one was useful as the laptop also has TV out, so I now watch DVDs by linking up my laptop to my widescreen TV using an s-video and 3mm audio cables. This negated the need for a separate DVD player.
Functionality, it is reasonably fast, wich means you don't have to wait an eternity for something to load up.
The drawback to this laptop is the noise the fan makes. It is very loud!!!! The other drawbacks, which is probably minor for most people, was that it only had 2 USB ports (albeit USB 2...

Advantages: great looking, good spec and high performance Disadvantages: poor battery life
...I have found my 5633wlmi aceraspire extremely good value for money I have spent time reading up about the best laptop for under the £600 mark which i had set myself which i think is important as you can really get carried away and you always tend to want more than you really need my previous laptop was ok but ugly to look at so when i saw the aceraspire i warmed instantly to its sleek silver look and was amazed with the spec it came with .Ihave now been working on my acer for 4 days and found vista windows easy to get to grips with after xp. the battery life is not so good ,but my overall rating for this notebook 9out of10...

I bought mine on ebay for £360, I needed it for university study and it's working really well for small documents like word and excel and it will also play some games well, mainly Unreal Tournament online :-)

Compared to my old 333Hz desktop, this machine goes like the wind! In my opinion it is a fast, reliable and ultimately portable computer with all the features you would expect from a normal desktop PC.

A great buy!
Having used computers for years but never having bought one of my own or being very 'technically' minded I had no clue what kind of a laptop I needed or wanted. Basically I just wanted something stylish to use the internet on at home! I more
