Acer Aspire 1804WSMi

I bought the Acer because it was by far the best spec for the price and glad I did. Its performance and features are excellent, including the bulit in Wireless LAN and Blue tooth. My only reservations at the time of purchase was lack of RS232 Serial ports and floppy disk, but in all the time I have had it I have not missed them, and a USB to Serial adapter is quite cheap and with all the USB memory sticks now, who needs a floppy disc drive?

The keyboard is large with a separate number pad which is great The only negative point about the keyboard is the back slash key is in the wrong place and takes some getting use to.

It is big for a lap top because of the 17' screen and unfortunately does not come with a Laptop case and because it is big, needs a large case but this was easy enough to get (£40 from any electrical store) but the large screen is very impressive. However as with some other new laptops (a friends toshiba being one of them) suffers from a reflective glare on the screen. So avoid using it in the sun as you can only see yourself, but despite this great for watching wide screen dvds especially as it comes with IR remote control.

The processor size demands a large power supply (approx 1650mm x 760mm x 400mm) and weighing 1kg is my only real complaint and a bit too bright Bluetooth and Wireless lan indicator lights.
